Accreditation: Other Perspectives

Our last post, shared by guest author Dr. Brigitte Valesey, offered some important perspective on why accreditation matters and how we can make the most of the process.

Last week, an article by Doug Lederman in Inside Higher Ed appeared looking at several different perspectives:  those of accrediting agencies, the federal government, and administrators. This lengthy piece takes up the question of the value of accreditation and the shifting nature of the process.  It examines the history of accreditation (a helpful primer), as well as the challenges and opportunities facing regional accrediting agencies as they look ahead to the future of higher education.
